Okay here’s the scoop, for any of you ladies who actually like real beer, and by “real” we mean not light and deluded. According to this article, and a few others, women who drink regular beer are at a higher risk for psoriasis. Now, to be truthful, it’s not the worst thing that can happen to someone, but it’s not a good thing either. Psoriasis is treatable and curable, but it’s still a hassle and not cheap.
Now, the reason for thisĀ correlationĀ seems to be the alcohol itself, given that alcohol can have a negative affect on immune responses and psoriasis being an autoimmune disease. Light beer and wine were not associated with increased risk in this study. There are two things to consider though. Light beer has less calories because it has less alcohol, by nature. This would lead to the believe that alcohol is affecting ingredient causing the increase of risk. Wine, however, generally has more alcohol content than most regular beers, but it does not show an increased correlation in women’s risk for psoriasis. We’re not the scientists, we’re just the news bringers, so don’t ask us why this doesn’t make sense. The other major stand-out quality separating regular beer from light beer and wine is the protein content. So now protein is bad too… Watch out all you guys drinking those nasty shakes in the morning!
Now here’s the low down, and our take on it. Nobody drinks beer for their health, just like nobody eats french fries to lose weight. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. Moderation is the key to life. Moderate your beer intake, be it a triple distilled double chocolate stout or an MGD 64, and you’ll fall right into line with most of the world on the health scale.
Cheers,
